Pedestrian Accident Statistics

Every time a car hits a pedestrian, the results are tragic. When two vehicles collide, pedestrians are completely defenseless.

There has been a rise in the number of pedestrian fatalities and injuries that occur on American roads. Statistics show that pedestrians make up most of those killed in traffic accidents.

The Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) found that deaths among young adults increased by 27% during that time, while overall traffic fatalities decreased by 14% between 2007 and 2016.

In 2017, 5,977 people died in pedestrian accidents across the United States. According to the latest data, 88 people per minute pass away.

In 2017, hospitals treated 137,000 pedestrians for nonfatal injuries.

According to recent research, California has the highest rate of serious injuries and fatalities among states for pedestrians.

More than 14,000 pedestrians were injured, and 893 were killed in California traffic accidents in 2018.

Pedestrian fatalities and injuries are often the results of driver error, like going too fast or failing to yield. You should hire an attorney to increase your likelihood of winning in court.
