What To Do After A Pedestrian Accident In Burlingame, CA

After being involved in a pedestrian accident, it can be challenging to think clearly, especially if you are injured. However, your actions and statements at the scene can greatly impact the success of any future claim against the responsible party.

These tips can help you prevent actions that may decrease the value of your personal injury claim:

  1. Call the police as soon as the accident occurs and ensure an officer creates an accident report.
  2. Take pictures of your injuries, the accident scene, property damage, the weather, the road conditions, and the vehicle that struck you.
  3. Take photos of the at-fault driver’s license, insurance card, and license plate.
  4. Get all eyewitnesses’ names and contact information and the names of anyone else who may have seen anything.
  5. See a doctor or other healthcare professional right away and inform them about every affected area of your body.
  6. Keep a record of your injuries and recovery, including how you feel, the treatment you had, and the expenses.
  7. Do not speak with the insurance adjuster or accept a settlement offer until you have spoken with an expert lawyer.
  8. Stay off social media and avoid posting about being involved in an accident or the circumstances surrounding it.
  9. Contact California pedestrian accident lawyers as soon as possible to discuss your case.
