Motorcycle Crash Accident Statistics

San Bernardino County has a lot of problems with motorcycle accidents. In 2016, 68 people died in motorcycle accidents in the county. This number is going up. Most of these accidents happen between a single car and a motorcyclist.

In 2015, there were only six deaths. Head-on collisions caused eight out of the nine deaths. Most accidents happen during the week between 3 and 6 p.m.

One worry that comes from these numbers is that drivers in cars and trucks can’t see motorcyclists as well as they can see drivers in cars and trucks. This can make it hard for drivers to see motorcyclists, which often leads to a crash that kills someone.

Many people who die in motorcycle accidents do not have helmets on. This is probably because California does not have a law that everyone must wear a helmet, which puts riders at a high risk of severe head injuries in a crash.

When riding a motorcycle, drivers can do several things to stay safe:

  • Wear a helmet at all times.
  • When you change lanes or turn, ensure other drivers see you and use their turn signals.
  • Drive carefully and pay attention to what’s going on around you.
  • Never drink and drive.

Motorcycles are much smaller than cars, so it’s easy for drivers to miss them. If you’re drunk, you’re more likely to get into an accident that hurts or kills you or someone else.
