According to the Gilroy police, a 92-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Gilroy Tuesday, September 13, 2022.
According to the police, the crash occurred around 5:37 p.m. at First Street and Wren Avenue.
According to the officials, the man who was killed was reportedly operating a mobility scooter. On the roadway, he was discovered lying unconscious.
He was taken to the hospital but did not survive his arrival there. The police could not identify the victim.
According to the officials, the police could identify the driver through witness accounts and a camera system that read license plates.
The driver, who was only 16 years old at the time of the incident, was apprehended and booked into juvenile hall on charges of hit-and-run resulting in death or injury and vehicular manslaughter.
The suspect’s vehicle was taken into custody to be examined as part of the investigation.
