The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials reported that two teenagers were killed in a collision when they allegedly ran a red light in Lancaster on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
The collision happened around 2:10 p.m. at the intersection of Avenue H and 30th Street West.
According to Lancaster Sheriff’s Station traffic investigators, the Camry, driven by the two teens, at 30th Street West failed to stop for a red light and collided with a Chevrolet Silverado that was traveling south on 30th Street West at the intersection.
According to authorities, Jeffery A., 18, of Lancaster, was declared dead at the scene by the responding paramedics.
The second passenger in the Camry, a 16-year-old Lancaster resident named Emily B., was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was also later declared dead.
The Lancaster Sheriff’s Station traffic investigators are still investigating what caused the collision.
It’s unclear if speed played a role. Investigators concluded that the driver of the Silverado was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident, but it is unknown whether the Camry driver was also intoxicated.
