The two-vehicle head-on collision occurred at 2:20 p.m. along Highway 118, west of Grimes Canyon Road in Moorpark city limits.

The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office said the driver was Saul M. on Wednesday.

The CHP office near Moorpark said that Martinez was driving west on the 118 in a 2014 Mercedes C-series sedan. The agency said that they didn’t know his speed right away.

A man from Moorpark who was 49 years old drove the 2022 Chevrolet box truck.

On the spot, Martinez was said to be dead. The box truck driver was taken to Los Robles Regional Medical Center by ambulance. His injuries were said to be moderate.

The agency said that both drivers were wearing seat belts. No one was arrested, and CHP investigators don’t know if drugs or alcohol played a role.

If you saw the crash and haven’t already talked to a CHP investigator, please call the office in Moorpark at 805-553-0800.
