What To Do After Truck Accident In Santa Clarita, CA

Following a truck collision, it is important to remain on the scene and wait for authorities and medical experts to arrive. If possible, move the vehicle off the road. Then, after gathering evidence to support your truck accident claim, notify your insurance company and call our award-winning law firm.

Here is a detailed guide on what you should do after a truck-related accident:

  1. Stay on the scene and check for injuries. First, examine yourself, then check on others involved. Maintain your composure and try to regain your calm.
  2. Report your accident to the authorities as soon as possible. The police will document the incident and collect information for official records.
  3. Move vehicles to the shoulder of the road. If possible and safe, take your vehicle to the shoulder and activate your hazard lights to inform oncoming drivers. If moving the vehicles is not possible or safe, comply with the instructions of emergency responders.
  4. Share the names, phone numbers, and insurance information with the other driver(s). If possible, take pictures of the vehicles involved, license plates, and other important information.
  5. Obtain witness testimony. When an accident occurs, several people are usually present to help. Exchange as much information as possible with them to help your case.
  6. Visit a hospital or your primary doctor right away. Prompt medical care can help reduce the severity of injuries and discover internal injuries.
  7. Inform your insurance company about the accident. Do not feel obligated to provide any official or recorded remarks immediately.
  8. Do not admit fault. When speaking with a police officer, just discuss the facts of the incident. Provide as much detail as possible in your description of the collision.
