Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics

It is shocking how many people die in California each year from single-vehicle accidents.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that single-vehicle crashes account for 62% of all traffic fatalities in the Golden State. Distractions while driving can come from a variety of sources in California.

A single-vehicle accident can happen for a variety of reasons. Accidents and runaways are more likely to occur when traveling at high speeds or making sharp turns on slippery roads. Perhaps there was a large branch on the road or something that had fallen off a truck.

Even if the single-car accident is not the result of anyone’s negligence, the extent to which you can recover under your insurance policy will likely be constrained.

Fresno County Car Accident Lawyers

Most people who are hurt in car accidents can’t go back to work or school, but it’s still illegal to drive recklessly if someone else dies. The victim’s family members may file a wrongful death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance company in case of a fatal car accident caused by another driver’s negligence.

Witnesses at depositions and trials often have to testify in front of a large audience while suffering through painful memories of past losses and heartaches. The mental health of individuals can suffer when legal matters are left unresolved.

Following a car accident, immediate action is necessary to ensure the responsible driver is punished. When carelessness causes a large number of deaths, responsibility must be taken. Filing a lawsuit for wrongful death can be a long and difficult process, but it can be worth it for families who have lost loved ones. California drivers will be profoundly affected by this decision.
