[09-18-2022] Riverside County, CA – Four Injured in a DUI Crash in La Quinta

Four people were injured after their SUV was rear-ended by a drunk driver behind the wheel of another SUV in La Quinta on Sunday, September 18, 2022.

According to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Mark Chlarson, the accident occurred at 4:49 p.m. at Avenue 48 and the Dune Palms intersection.

Both cars were going west on Avenue 48 when a Dodge Durango driven by 21-year-old Daniel Jesus B. rear-ended a Nissan Rogue, causing the Nissan driver to lose control and the vehicle to flip over.

Four passengers of the Rogue were seriously injured and were carried by EMS to Desert Regional Medical Center, while Barerra declined medical treatment.

Chlarson stated that Barrera was driving under the influence of alcohol when the collision occurred. He was arrested for DUI causing injuries and detained at the John Benoit Detention Center.
