Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics

The number of people who lose their lives in accidents involving a single vehicle in California each year is appallingly high.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), single-vehicle accidents are responsible for 62% of all fatalities due to traffic accidents in California. When you’re behind the wheel in the Golden State, many things can pull your attention away from the road.

A number of different factors can cause a crash involving just one vehicle. On slippery roads, the risk of accidents and runaways is increased when driving at high speeds and making sharp turns. There is a possibility that there is garbage on the road, such as a broken branch of a tree or something that fell off of a truck.

Even if the single-vehicle accident was not your fault or the fault of another driver, the terms of your insurance policy might still limit your ability to recover costs associated with the accident. This would be the case even if the accident were not your fault or the fault of another driver.
