One person was injured following a two-vehicle traffic accident in Murrieta on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Lassig, the collision occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. on the northbound side of the freeway, north of Clinton Keith Road, close to Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta.
A Honda Accord and a Dodge Ram 1500 truck pulling a Yamaha boat on a trailer were both involved in the collision.
According to Lassig, investigations continue to determine what caused the collision of the vehicles.
The Honda driver was discovered lying in the freeway’s #2 lane with severe wounds.
According to Lassig, the victim was taken to the Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar.
Lassig stated that two people inside the Ram were taken to a nearby hospital with minor wounds.
First responders requested a complete closure of the northbound side of I-215 and closed lanes.
The CHP is still investigating the collision.
Two-Vehicle Crash Statistics
Hospitalizations due to injuries account for a disproportionate share of all visits. Car accidents in the United States cause nearly two million annual injuries.
Unfortunately, so many of these tragedies occur in California. More than 200,000 people in the United States are injured in car accidents yearly.
Riverside County is large, ranking as the state’s fourth most populous. It’s one of the riskiest regions in the country for motorists.
2,119 people were hurt or lost their lives in car accidents in the Riverside, California area during 2017. The 91, 215, and 60 freeways and city streets like Jurupa Avenue and Wells Avenue were all involved in these accidents.
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving while distracted, driving too fast, and other serious violations of traffic laws are major contributors to these collisions.
The fact that most of these catastrophes could have been avoided only adds insult to injury. Distracted driving accounts for about 80% of all car accidents.
