According to the authorities, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and was injured, and needed to be airlifted to a trauma center in Victorville Wednesday morning, September 21, 2022.
The crash transpired just before 9:00 a.m. at the intersection of Hesperia and Bear Valley Roads.
Mara Rodriguez, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, said that an adult man was crossing the road when he was hit by a car that couldn’t stop in time.
A witness says that the man walking down the street is a homeless person living on Bank of America’s side. He was in the middle of the road and decided to cross.
The person who hit him probably didn’t see him until it was too late, which is sad.
Rodriguez says that the pedestrian’s injuries were not life-threatening and that she initially refused medical help. But in the end, he agreed to be taken to the hospital to get help.
Because of how complex the crash was and how badly the man was hurt, firefighters asked for a helicopter to land in Desert Valley and took the man to a trauma center.
The driver of the car stayed at the scene and helped the police figure out what had happened.
Pedestrian Accident Statistics
Although public awareness campaigns have increased focus on pedestrian safety, pedestrian accidents remain rising. In 2019, pedestrian fatalities reached a 25-year high, according to the Governors Highway Safety Association.
It’s no wonder these accidents are becoming more prevalent since there are more cars on the road than ever before, and distracted driving is becoming more prevalent. Is there a way to prevent them?
To reduce the risk of pedestrian accidents, pedestrians and drivers can take a number of steps. It’s crucial for pedestrians to be aware of their surroundings and cross the street only at designated crosswalks. Pedestrians have the right of way, and drivers should always yield to them when driving in pedestrian-populated areas. Cellphones should also be avoided when possible by pedestrians and drivers. Reducing the number of pedestrian accidents each year is possible by taking these precautions.
Accidents may still occur even when everyone is doing their part. You may be entitled to compensation if you have been injured in a pedestrian accident that wasn’t your fault. A personal injury lawyer can assist you in getting the compensation you deserve for your injuries.
