Pedestrian Accident Statistics

Even though public awareness campaigns have made people more aware of pedestrian safety, the number of accidents involving pedestrians keeps increasing. The Governors Highway Safety Association says that in 2019, there were more pedestrian deaths than at any time in the past 25 years.

Since more cars are on the road than ever before and more people are driving while distracted, it’s not surprising that these accidents are happening more often. Is there anything we can do to stop them?

Pedestrians and drivers can take steps to make it less likely that they will get into an accident. People who walk should always be aware of their surroundings and only cross the street at crosswalks. Pedestrians have the right of way, and drivers should always let them go first in areas where there are a lot of pedestrians.

Both drivers and pedestrians should try to avoid using their cell phones as much as possible. By taking these steps, the number of pedestrian accidents that happen each year can be cut down.

Even if everyone does their part, accidents can still happen. If you were hurt in a pedestrian accident that wasn’t your fault, you may be able to get money. A lawyer for personal injuries can help you get the money you deserve for your injuries.
