[09-27-2022] Los Angeles County, CA – A Man Died After an Electronic Scooter Crash in Downtown

A man died after a fatal scooter crash involving a car in Downtown on Tuesday morning, September 27, 2022.

The mishap occurred around 7:10 a.m. at Seventh Street and Chestnut Avenue intersection. The man was traveling west on Seventh Street on his scooter.

According to the police, the man ran a red light and struck a 2018 Chrysler 300 heading north when he got to Chestnut Avenue.

The man was already receiving aid when the police arrived. However, he passed away after being taken to a nearby hospital, according to police.

Authorities are trying to contact his next of kin, so his identity has not been made public.

According to police, Chrysler’s driver stayed on the scene and assisted with the investigation. She was identified as a Long Beach resident aged 59.

According to the LBPD, the crash is not believed to have been caused by speed, distracted driving, or intoxication.
