[09-29-2022] One Person Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on San Jose FreewayAccording to the California Highway Patrol, a driver who got out of their car after an accident and ran through traffic lanes was struck and killed on Freeway 101 in San Jose late on Thursday night, September 29, 2022.

The CHP reported that the fatal collision happened around 11:20 p.m. on Thursday on northbound 101 just south of the Alum Rock Avenue exit.

The accident began when a Scion XB rear-ended a Tesla in a two-vehicle collision.

According to the CHP, the Scion’s driver ran across the freeway for an unidentified reason before being struck by a tow truck. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both the Tesla and tow truck drivers stayed on the scene. There have been no additional accidents reported.

Alcohol or drugs were not thought to have played a role in the fatal collision.
