[09-30-2022] San Francisco County, CA – Four People Rescued from Sinking Boat in Point San Pablo

Four people had to be rescued after a boat started to sink one mile off the coast of Point San Pablo in San Francisco Bay on Friday, September 30, 2022.

The accident occurred around 9:55 p.m. off the coast of Richmond.

A boat was taking on water off the coast of Richmond on Friday night, and passengers were on board, according to the U.S. Coast Guard Sector San Francisco watchstanders.

The Coast Guard’s water rescue team arrived on the scene and reported they were unable to reach the boat due to concerns about the shallow water.

A helicopter crew arrived on the scene around 10:00 p.m. and sent a rescue swimmer into the water.

All four of the passengers as well as the dogs were rescued from the boat during two separate flights by the aircrew using multiple hoists.

None of the victims sustained any serious injuries.
