[10-01-2022] Yuba Police Officer Injured After Getting Rammed by Stolen VehicleAccording to Yuba County Sheriff’s deputies, an officer was injured after getting rammed by a Chico man fleeing with a stolen vehicle in Yuba City Saturday, October 1, 2022.

The crash occurred Saturday afternoon near F and 3rd Streets.

The sheriff’s department says that when deputies tried to pull Michael Williams over, he was driving a stolen Ford F-150. Williams stopped the car for a short time and then sped away.

Then, deputies said, Williams hit the driver’s side of the patrol car, hurting a deputy, and kept driving away.

When Williams got to a dead end near F and 3rd Streets, he turned around and crashed into another patrol car several times, but the deputy wasn’t hurt.

Williams then drove through a gate and into a sewer drain, which broke down his car and made him have to keep running on foot.

Deputies said Williams climbed a cell tower to a height of about 150 feet and stayed there for six hours until the Yuba County Crisis Negotiation Team could get him down.

Williams was taken into custody and is charged with multiple felonies, including assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer.
