Truck Accident Statistics

The largest vehicles on the road are semis, known as “big rigs,” 18-wheelers, tractor-trailers, semi-trucks, dump trucks, and semis. As a result of rising consumer demand, there are more semi-trucks on our roads and in our cities, which has led to an increase in big rig accidents.

Because of the enormous size difference between big rigs and other vehicles on the road, big rig collisions are more deadly and dangerous than other traffic collisions.

According to the California Department of Transportation, big rigs are the state’s primary means of moving freight. Californians use only big trucks to transport their goods, making up more than 78% of the population. Big rigs are frequently involved in collisions;

The NHTSA discovered that the number of traffic fatalities caused by big rigs increased steadily between 2013 and 2017. The number of Californians killed in truck-related accidents will rise as the state’s trucking industry expands.
