[10-08-2022] 15-Year-Old Passenger Injured in Wrong-Way DUI Crash in PlacervilleAccording to the Placerville Police Department, a 15-year-old passenger was injured after a wrong-way driver driving under the influence crashed into an oncoming vehicle on Highway 50 in Placerville Saturday, October 8, 2022.

As per Placerville police officers, the collision occurred at 12:32 a.m. west of Highway 50 eastbound lanes near Smith Flat Road.

A PPD officer said that Anthony E., who was 36 years old, was going west in the eastbound lanes of Highway 50 near Smith Flat Road at a “high rate of speed.”

Police say that when they went to stop the driver with sirens and emergency lights, they found that Estrada had crashed into an oncoming car just east of Bedford Avenue.

A passenger in the car Estrada hit, a 15-year-old boy, was taken to Marshall Hospital. Police say that the teen’s injuries are not life-threatening.

According to the authorities, Estrada was arrested after the crash.
