[10-08-2023] Los Angeles County, CA – Unknown Driver Recklessly Struck By Vehicle After Pursuit in Sun Valley

An unidentified driver was involved in a collision after a police chase in Los Angeles on Sunday night, October 8, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol and San Fernando Police, the collision occurred around 9:30 p.m. on 170 Freeway near Roscoe Boulevard in Sun Valley.

The incident happened after police pursued a suspect driving aggressively before it was abrupted when the driver slammed into the rear of an uninvolved vehicle and veered off the 170 Freeway into a wall near Roscoe Boulevard.

The suspect’s vehicle was severely damaged, and its front bumper hung off the road, and all of its airbags were deployed.  It wasn’t clear if the other driver was injured.

The suspect’s arrest was assisted by a K-9 deployed by the Sun Valley Police Department. Police surrounded the suspect and cuffed him while they waited for paramedics to arrive.

He was taken into custody. The investigation was expected to cause traffic backups in the area.
