[10-13-2023] Two Elderly Pedestrians Fatally Struck Following Vehicle Collision in El CentroTwo senior citizens were killed after being struck by a vehicle in El Centro on Friday night, October 13, 2023.

According to the El Centro Police Department, the incident occurred at 7:30 p.m. on 4th Street just South State Street.

Initial investigations indicated that the two elderly were crossing the streets when they were struck by a 19-year-old female driver.  The victims were identified as males aged 64 and 69 years old.

According to reports, one victim died at the scene, while the other was brought to El Centro Medical Center for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

It did not appear that narcotics or alcohol were a factor in the incident. Information regarding the victims and the cause of the collision will be released as the investigation progresses.
