Pedestrian Accident Statistics

There are almost always terrible consequences when a car collides with a pedestrian. As a result of being unprotected in the event of a collision between two vehicles, pedestrians would sustain serious injuries.

The number of pedestrians hurt and killed on U.S. roads has risen steadily in recent years. Historically speaking, pedestrians have always been the ones who got hit by cars and died.

The GHSA found that while overall traffic deaths decreased by 14% between 2007 and 2016, there was a 27% increase among young adults in that time.

In 2017, 5,907 people in the United States were killed while walking. The most recent statistics show that 88 people pass away every minute around the world.

Nonfatal injuries to pedestrians accounted for 137,000 visits to emergency rooms in 2017.

According to recent research, California has the nation’s highest rate of serious pedestrian injuries and fatalities.

In 2018, over 14,000 pedestrians were injured and 893 were killed in accidents throughout the state of California.

Pedestrian deaths and injuries frequently result from driver negligence, such as excessive speeding or failing to yield. If you want to improve your chances of winning in court, hiring an attorney is a good idea.
