Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics

More than one thousand people are killed each year in accidents involving a single vehicle in California.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 62% of fatal accidents in California involving a single vehicle have been recorded. These accidents all resulted in fatalities. Drivers in the state of California should exercise extra caution because the state is home to some of the most dangerous highways in the country.

A wide range of different factors can cause accidents involving a single vehicle. Driving carelessly on a wet road can lead to a runaway car or an accident that occurs off the road. It’s possible that some large debris, like a piece of driftwood or some other kind of debris, washed up on the shore. This could potentially lead to driving conditions that are even riskier than they already are.

Even if the other driver was negligent in some way, your ability to recover damages might be severely restricted by the coverage plan of your insurance policy if the accident involved only one vehicle. This would be the case even if the other driver caused the accident.
