[10-21-2024] 72-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by SUV on Altadena DriveA 72-year-old man was fatally struck by an SUV while standing in a traffic lane on Altadena Drive in Riverside on Monday evening, October 21, 2024.

According to the Riverside Police Department, the incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of Altadena Drive and Biscayne Avenue.

Sgt. Dan Macias reported that the man was in the westbound lane when a Chevrolet Equinox, traveling at an unconfirmed speed, struck him. The driver of the SUV immediately stopped at the scene and was not injured.

The pedestrian was transported to Riverside Community Hospital with severe injuries, where he later died that night.

The SUV driver was questioned by authorities but was not arrested. Sgt. Macias stated that it is unclear if alcohol or drugs were involved in the incident.

The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the crash.
