[10-23-2022] Humboldt County, CA - 51-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle US-101 Near Herrick OfframpAccording to the California Highway Patrol Humboldt, a 51-year-old bicyclist was killed after being struck by a vehicle in a traffic collision on northbound US-101 south of Herrick Avenue Sunday, October 23, 2022.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:42 p.m. South of the Herrick Avenue off-ramp on US-101 northbound in Humboldt.

Initial CHP inquiries indicate that 29-year-old Colton D. of Eureka was driving a 2015 Chevrolet pickup that collided with a bicyclist riding within the #1 lane.

Donald F., a bicyclist from Rio Dell, California, at the age of 51, was killed in the collision.

A lack of sobriety is not considered a factor in vehicular operation. The Humboldt County Coroner’s Office is awaiting toxicology results to determine the bicyclist’s level of impairment.
