[10-25-2024] Man Arrested After Police Pursuit Ends in Crash with Lexus SUVA man was arrested following a police pursuit that ended in a crash with another vehicle in Fresno County on Friday night, October 25, 2024.

The incident began at 8:32 p.m. when Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop near Shields and Hughes avenues.

The driver fled, leading deputies on a pursuit through neighborhoods near Fruit and Gettysburg avenues. During the chase, he let a passenger exit the vehicle and continued north on Palm Avenue at higher speeds.

At 9:46 p.m., the suspect ran a red light, colliding with the front end of a Lexus SUV traveling east on Sierra Avenue. The impact caused the suspect to lose control, crashing into a fire hydrant, clipping a power pole, and hitting a tree before coming to a stop.

Deputies assisted the suspect in exiting the car and arrested him. He was transported to a hospital for treatment before being booked into jail; his identity has not been disclosed.

The occupants of the Lexus, a man and a woman, reported only mild pain from the crash. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
