[10-30-2023] Los Angeles County, CA – One Died, Two Injured Following Multi-Vehicle Crash on 405 Freeway in Van Nuys

One person died, and two people were injured after a multi-vehicle collision in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, early Monday morning, October 30, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 4:45 a.m. at Sherman Way on the northbound 405 Freeway.

The crash was reportedly caused by four to six vehicles, with a silver sedan being the main vehicle involved. The sedan occupant died, and two others in the other vehicles sustained minor injuries.

Initial reports indicated a wrong-way driver caused the collision, but authorities confirmed one of the vehicles spun out after hitting the center divider. Officials found the car facing the wrong way when they arrived.

Northbound lanes were closed, and traffic was allowed to pass on the far right shoulder. Lane closures were expected to continue for several hours.

There is currently no further information available regarding the cause of the collision or the identities of the victims.
