The California Highway Patrol reported a collision involving three vehicles in Truckee on Friday morning, November 04, 2022.
According to reports released by the CHP’s Truckee Office, the multi-vehicle collision happened at 9:45 a.m. on Eastbound 80 near State Route 267.
The officers said the crash involved a sedan, a Mercedes-Benz SUV, and a black GMC Denali that flipped over while towing a trailer with a horse and two mini ponies.
No reports were available yet on the number and extent of injuries possibly sustained by the vehicles’ occupants resulting from the collision.
The horse was trapped under the trailer when it flipped over, but the ponies were rescued without injury.
CHP says a team of veterinarians is on its way to the scene of the crash to check on the horse’s condition.
The officers stated that the traffic had been cleared by 12:18 p.m.
Further investigation is being conducted into the cause of the collision.
