[11-08-2022] Plumas County, CA - Two Vehicle Collision on Highway 70 Temporary Closes RoaA two-vehicle collision temporarily closed roads on Highway 70 Tuesday afternoon, November 8, 2022.

According to authorities, the crash occurred around 4:39 p.m. west of Parkers Road close to Blairsden.

Reports state that a 67-year-old man was driving his 1994 Chevrolet pickup when a 19-year-old was traveling west on 70 in her 2007 Ford pickup.

R-1 chain control restrictions were in place, requiring all vehicles to travel at a slower speed limit of 35 miles per hour, and the road was covered in a thin layer of slushy snow.

The Chevrolet was traveling at an unsafe speed, given the road’s conditions. As a result, his car lost traction and went into an uncontrollable 270-degree spin, crossing into Ford’s path.

The Ford pickup was severely damaged after it was struck on its rear end and came to rest in the westbound lane.

The road was temporarily closed to remove the vehicle.

Further details of the crash are still underway.
