The United States reported 5,917 pedestrian deaths in 2016. Later that year, 88 people were predicted to die every minute. A total of 137,000 pedestrian accidents resulted in emergency room visits in 2017.

In terms of pedestrian fatalities and injuries, California has the highest rate in the nation. In 2012, more than 14,000 pedestrians were injured, and 893 were killed in the state.

The majority of pedestrians who get hit by cars sustain serious injuries. These individuals will be most victims if a vehicle collides with a group of pedestrians.

Pedestrians are advised to abide by traffic laws and obey all signs and signals whenever possible, use the sidewalks, look for cars traveling in either direction and cross the Street only at crosswalks or intersections. These may reduce their chances of being injured.
