Two people were killed after a fiery head-on collision in Moorpark on Monday afternoon, November 15, 2021.

A gray-colored 2020 Toyota sedan collided head-on with a southbound Peterbilt semi-truck that was hauling a dump trailer.

The Toyota sedan was initially traveling on the southbound side of Grimes Canyon Road and was navigating through a right curve in the road. As the Toyota sedan crossed into the other lane, it then collided head-on with the semi-truck.

Due to the severity of the impact, both of the vehicles caught fire. The Ventura County firefighters immediately went to the scene and extinguished the fire.

Unfortunately, two passengers inside the Toyota sedan were killed in the accident. They were identified as 23-year-old John Q. and 23-year-old Jonathan Y.

Meanwhile, another passenger inside the Toyota sustained serious injuries in the mishap. He was taken to Los Robles Regional Medical Center for treatment. The semi-truck driver was also taken to Los Robles with moderate injuries.

It’s unclear whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision, but authorities suspect that speed may have played a role in the crash.
