[11-16-2022] Man on Wheelchair Injured After Hit by Motorcyclist in UkiahA 68-year-old wheelchaired man was severely injured after a motorcyclist struck him in Ukiah, Wednesday evening, November 16, 2022.

Authorities reported that the crash occurred around 5:26 p.m. at South State Street and Laws Avenue intersection.

The California Highway Patrol reported that a motorcyclist struck a man using a wheelchair in front of Chavez Market.

When responders arrived on the scene, they discovered that a 2014 Honda Accord driven by 31-year-old Janely M. struck the motorized wheelchair.

Reports state that the 68-year-old man, Vernon R., was the occupant of the wheelchair and sustained severe injuries.

Responders immediately airlifted the victim to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to have contributed to the collision.

Currently, authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.
