An unidentified 75-year-old man was injured after a major bicycle crash near Liberty Station NTC Park on Wednesday afternoon, November 17, 2021.

The elderly man was riding southbound on Cushing Road when he was suddenly rear-ended by a Ford Escape for unclear reasons.

Due to the severity of the impact, the rider was ejected from his bicycle and landed on the roadway. He broke his left clavicle and sustained several broken ribs.

The driver that struck the bicycle rider was uninjured in the crash. He remained at the scene and willingly cooperated with authorities.

The San Diego Police Department is further investigating the cause of the accident. They will attempt to determine whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident.
