Fatal Pedestrian Accident Statistics

According to a new report by the Governors Highway Safety Association, 7 485 pedestrians died in vehicle crashes in 2021, the highest number in 40 years (GHSA).

The GHSA also stated that from 2007 to 2016, traffic fatalities decreased by 14%. However, pedestrian fatalities increased by 27% during this period despite these improvements.

When a vehicle strikes a pedestrian, they frequently sustain serious injuries. Most likely, when a car and a pedestrian collide, the pedestrians will sustain the worst injuries.

Pedestrian fatalities and injuries are usually caused by failing to yield to pedestrians or abruptly braking.

It is imperative that pedestrians always use sidewalks, refrain from drinking or using drugs, and cross parking lots and driveways carefully. These collisions will therefore be less likely to cause them harm.
