[11-19-2023] Alameda County, CA – 56-Year-Old Man Killed After Hit-And-Run Collision in San Lorenzo

A 56-year-old man was killed after a hit-and-run crash in San Lorenzo, Alameda County, on Sunday morning, November 19, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at about 8:52 a.m. on northbound Hesperian Boulevard south of Bockman Road.

The unidentified man was fatally struck by a black 2007 Ford Mustang as he crossed the boulevard outside of a crosswalk. The 20-year-old driver from Hayward fled from the scene.

A half-mile from the scene, authorities found the unoccupied vehicle in a residential area. The suspect returned to the site, allegedly went back to the vehicle, and was arrested.

The driver did not appear to be aware that the man had been killed. There is no evidence that the collision was caused by alcohol or drugs.

He was arrested in Santa Rita Jail for vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and hit-and-run causing death. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact them.
