Four people were killed while two others were injured after an alleged DUI wrong-way car crash in the Sierra Nevada on early Saturday morning, November 20, 2021.
The accident transpired at approximately 5:00 a.m. in the area on Interstate near Eagle Lakes Road.
A westbound Jeep was traveling in the wrong lanes on the eastbound side of Interstate 80. It then inevitably collided head-on with an oncoming eastbound Honda Civic.
Two adults and two children were killed in the collision. The two adults may have been the parents of the deceased kids.
Meanwhile, an infant was airlifted to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno following the collision. Meanwhile, the wrong-way driver sustained major injuries in the crash; he was also taken to Renown Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities later determined that the wrong-way driver was under the influence at the time of the accident.
Local authorities are further investigating the case.
