Local authorities reported a man was killed after being struck by a vehicle while he crossed a street in Long Beach on Monday evening, November 21, 2022.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Pacific Coast Highway and Orange Avenue.
Initial investigation revealed that a 35-year-old Long Beach resident was traveling west on PCH towards Orange Avenue on a 2017 Chevy Silverado when he hit the pedestrian who was reportedly crossing the street against a red light.
It is unknown if the victim was in the crosswalk when he was hit. He was declared dead at the site by paramedics. His identity was withheld until his family was notified.
The truck’s driver stayed on the site and assisted with the inquiry. Speed, distracted driving, or intoxication are not thought to have contributed to this collision.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is urged to contact the authorities as the investigation continues.
