[11-24-2022] Kern County, CA - 72-Year-Old Driver Fatally Struck Pedestrian on Highway 99One man was killed after he was struck by an SUV in Bakersfield Thursday night, November 24, 2022.

According to authorities, the crash occurred around 8:54 p.m. northbound on Highway 99, south of California Avenue.

Reports stated that a man was strolling along Highway 99’s right shoulder when a car struck him as he attempted to cross lanes.

Responders arrived and declared the unidentified victim dead on the spot.

The 72-year-old Honda driver, Robert C Catrini, stopped after hitting the man and remained on the scene.

Authorities confirmed that neither drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision.
