According to the Long Beach Police Department, the crash occurred around 12:42 a.m. at 27th Street and Long Beach Boulevard.

A 2017 Toyota Camry was reportedly traveling north on the Boulevard when it hit the man who was crossing the street in a designated crosswalk.

The victim was found by the responders at the scene of the crash with critical injuries. He later died despite medical aid. His identification has not been released until his family is notified.

The motorist, who was only known as a male Long Beach resident, stayed at the site and assisted police with their investigation.

According to the LBPD, the crash is not considered to have been caused by speed, distracted driving, or intoxication.

Police stated that it is now unclear who had the right of way.
