A pedestrian pushing a shopping cart sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by a pickup truck in the Bay Ho neighborhood of San Diego on Sunday evening, November 24, 2024.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the collision occurred at approximately 5:10 p.m. in the 4200 block of Morena Boulevard.
Authorities stated that a man in his 50s was pushing a cart northbound in the No. 2 lane when a white 2025 Ford F-250 pickup struck him from behind. The driver reportedly did not see the pedestrian.
The injured man was transported to a hospital, where he went into cardiac arrest. Medical personnel performed CPR, and he regained a pulse.
The pedestrian suffered multiple severe injuries, including fractured ribs, a ruptured spleen, a collapsed lung, and a fractured pelvis.
San Diego Police Department Traffic Division officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
