Hit-and-Run Accident Statistics

In our country, hit-and-run accidents are treated quite seriously. Assuming the driver can be tracked down, he will almost probably face the consequences for his actions.

Every day in the United States, there is at least one hit-and-run. Over 2,000 individuals have been killed in such incidents since 2006, with pedestrians accounting for 60% of the total.

The drivers that cause around 20% of pedestrian deaths never stop to help the victims. The majority of these drivers flee because they are intoxicated, have license problems, or are afraid of getting arrested.

Despite a 14% decrease in traffic-related mortality between 2007 and 2016, the number of pedestrian fatalities increased by 27% during that time.

As of 2016, California had the highest number of fatalities from hit-and-run accidents of any state. Deaths from automobile accidents in the United States were 3,056 in 2012. In particular, 3,562 of these deaths occurred in California.
