[11-25-2022] San Diego County, CA - Head-On Collision Kills One and Injures Another in RamonaOne person was killed and another was injured in a head-on collision in Ramona on Friday morning, November 25, 2022.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle collision occurred before 5:00 a.m. on State Route 78 and Ramona Trails Drive near Rancho Santa Fe Court.

A 62-year-old man from La Mesa was traveling east on SR-78 on a Honda Civic when a 22-year-old man from Ramona heading west on a Nissan Altima crossed the eastbound lane and crashed with the Honda.

The Honda driver was pronounced dead at the site, while the Nissan driver, although injured, declined medical attention.

The identity of the victim was withheld pending notification of his relatives. The name of the survivor driver was withheld by CHP.

At 5:18 in the morning, a Sig Alert was issued for SR-78 in both directions. The CHP said that the route was reopened just before 8 a.m.

According to the spokesman, CHP was looking into whether or not drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
