[11-26-2021] Los Angeles County, CA – HIt-and-Run Crash in South Whittier Area Kills One Person

One person was killed following a hit-and-run crash involving a DUI driver in the south Whittier area on early Friday morning, November 26, 2021.

[11-26-2021] Los Angeles County, CA - HIt-and-Run Crash in South Whittier Area Kills One PersonThe fatal accident occurred in the area of Lambert and Colima roads in the south Whittier area at around 5:30 a.m.

An eastbound Nissan Altima was traveling on Lambert road while a Honda Accord was heading south on Colima Road. Both of the cars then collided at the intersection.

After the collision, both vehicles crashed into Scotty’s Flower, and Gift’s on Colima Road. The Honda Accord caught fire after the crash.

The Honda driver was trapped inside the wreckage and was unable to escape. Unfortunately, he was unable to survive his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, the Nissan driver did not stop to wait for authorities and fled the scene. Officers were later able to find and apprehend the suspect.

The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Darrell J. He was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, felony DUI and leaving the scene of an accident. The case is under further investigation.
