[11-26-2024] Driver Killed, Another Injured After Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 126 in Santa PaulaA 59-year-old Fillmore woman was killed, and another driver sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle collision on westbound Highway 126 near Peck Road in Santa Paula late Tuesday morning, November 26, 2024.

The crash occurred around 11:15 a.m. when the driver of a blue 2003 Dodge Dakota pickup truck was merging onto the westbound highway from the Peck Avenue on-ramp during rainy weather.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Ryan Ayala, the pickup spun out across the westbound lanes and into the path of a black 2014 Mercedes-Benz ML 350 SUV driven by a 40-year-old Santa Paula woman.

The Mercedes collided with the driver’s side of the Dodge, causing major damage to both vehicles. The impact pushed the vehicles into the metal guardrail in the center median, where they came to rest. Firefighters extricated one person from the wreckage.

Both drivers were transported to Ventura County Medical Center. The driver of the Dodge later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Her identity has not yet been released, pending notification of her family. The driver of the Mercedes sustained minor injuries.

Investigators continue to review witness statements and other evidence related to the incident.
