Fatal Head-On Collision Statistics

The term “head-on collision” refers to an accident in which two cars are going in opposite directions crash directly. The consequences of these collisions, even at modest speeds, can be life-threatening or fatal.

Traffic lights, stop signs, blind crossroads, and motorways are all places where head-on crashes occur. As a result of drivers ignoring traffic restrictions, such as red lights or stop signs, head-on collisions are more likely to occur at junctions.

The speed and weight of the cars involved in a head-on collision enhance the impact force. During head-on collisions, a lot of energy is released. This type of collision is more likely to result in fatalities because of the increased kinetic energy.

Even though head-on collisions account for only 2% of all accidents, they are responsible for 10% of all fatalities on US roads.
