A 43-year-old woman was driving a 2019 Nissan Armada westbound at about 55 mph, and a 67-year-old man drove a 2005 Nissan Sentra with his wife in the passenger seat.

To avoid hitting a herd of deer in the road ahead of the vehicles, the Armada driver slowed and stopped the car when the Sentra driver failed to notice her stop.

As a result, the Sentra’s front collided with the Armada’s rear in the highway’s westbound lane. Both vehicles were driven to the north shoulder and stopped.

The two drivers were reportedly unharmed from the collision.

However, the passenger from the Sentra, a 63-year-old woman, sustained severe injuries and died at the scene.
