After a fiery wrong-way collision in Natomas, two people were hurt on early Tuesday morning, November 30, 2021.
The major collision transpired at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Interstate 5 at the Interstate 80 Interchange in Natomas.
A BMW sedan was reportedly traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 and collided head-on with a big rig.
The big rig driver veered into the center median area while the sedan careened to the interstate’s right shoulder after the crash. Debris from the impact was scattered across the freeway following the collision.
The BMW driver was seriously injured in the crash. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Authorities later determined that the BMW driver may have been under the influence at the time of the crash.
Meanwhile, a passenger inside the big rig sustained minor injuries in the crash. The accident is currently under further investigation.
