Authorities confirmed that the fatal collision occurred around 4:18 p.m. near the eastbound I-80 and 680 connectors.

According to authorities, they received a call regarding the crash involving two vehicles.

Responders arrived and found the victim, Jose R., with fatal injuries, pronounced dead at the scene.

Police officials have not released further details.

The CHP issued a Sig alert at 5:07 p.m., indicating a severe disruption in road traffic, with at least two freeway lanes stopped.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
