One person was killed, and another sustained moderate injuries in a crash involving a Chevy pickup truck and a semi-truck near McCall and Parlier Avenues in Selma Tuesday morning, December 3, 2024,
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred when a man driving the Chevy pickup was traveling westbound on Parlier, passing a stop sign. At the same time, a semi-truck with a flatbed trailer was traveling northbound on McCall Avenue, passing the intersection in a through road with no stop sign.
The semi-truck struck the front of the pickup, dragging it approximately 100 feet before the pickup burst into flames.
The driver of the pickup was ejected onto the roadway and was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger in the truck was rescued by a witness who stopped to assist. She was transported to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries. The semi-truck driver was uninjured.
Authorities do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, but dense fog may have contributed to the accident.
CHP is continuing to investigate the incident.
