A 45-year-old road worker identified as Latu M. was killed after a fatal crash in Carmel Valley on Monday afternoon, December 6, 2021.

The 45-year-old worker was driving to his worksite when his truck went over the side of the road, through the guardrail, and drove down a steep hill.

The worker was the sole occupant of the vehicle. His body was recovered by emergency personnel. Unfortunately, he could not survive the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 45-year-old employee had been working at his company for around 14 years. He was married with three daughters. A coworker of Latu set up a GoFundMe to help cover the funeral costs and other expenses from the tragic accident.

It’s unclear what caused the single-vehicle crash to occur. Local authorities are further investigating the case.
